POBNEWS24, Dhaka by Mir Afroz Zaman , Sep 6, 2022 : At least 24 people were killed and 115 others were injured in heavy monsoon rain-triggered flash floods in the
last 24 hours in Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)
said. According to a report released by the NDMA on Sunday night, the country’s
southern Sindh province was the worst-hit region with 19 killed, followed by
the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with three killed. Eastern Punjab province
reported one death and 107 injured, and southwest Balochistan province
reported one death.
Moreover, 214,707 houses were destroyed and 13,946 livestock perished, it
added. The total death toll in Pakistan from this season’s monsoon rains and
floods since mid-June has risen to around 1,314 along with 12,703 injured,
according to the latest statistics updated by the NDMA.
Additionally, 1,682,726 houses have been destroyed, while an estimated
750,405 livestock has perished in the rains across the country, it said.
Rescue and relief operations by the NDMA, other government organizations,
volunteers and non-government organizations are underway in the flood-hit
areas.
