POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 11, 2021: Bangladesh and France have signed three agreements on financial assistance and technical assistance. The agreements were signed during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s state visit to the country. Under the two agreements, France will provide 330 million euros to Dhaka to support Bangladesh’s development projects.
At a briefing on Wednesday, Economic Relations Department (ERD) Secretary Fatima Yasmin said that out of 330 million euros, the agency would provide 200 million euros for financial assistance to cope with the epidemic coronavirus and Dhaka would provide environmentally sustainable water for the environment. The project has already been launched and is ongoing.
He disclosed the 330 million euros, saying that the total assistance provided by AFD to Bangladesh thus exceeded 1 billion euros. Because, before that the company has given 600 million Euros. He added that Bangladesh is the largest recipient of AFD assistance in South Asia.
The ERD secretary said they would sign a host country agreement with France in the near future. Discussions are currently in the final stages.
In addition, the Secretary of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Mokammel Hossain said the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority has signed an agreement with the French Civil Aviation Authority to strengthen cooperation in exchanging experiences and training for its employees.
He added that they are assisting in organizing various events including air transport security. Bangladesh is making significant progress in the civil aviation sector.
