POBNEWS24, Dhaka Nov 24, 2023 : The 45th BCS written exam has finally been postponed after a week of alternating positions between the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the candidates.
The candidates did not want to sit for the examination due to security concerns due to strike-blockade. On the other hand, PSC was adamant to take the exam. The organization also released the time table and seating arrangements. Finally the candidates are happy that the exam has been postponed.
The suspension of the written examination was officially announced in a notification signed by PSC Controller of Examinations (Cadre) Anand Kumar Biswas on Friday (November 24) around 5:15 pm.
It is said that the commission has postponed the 45th BCS written examination (compulsory and post-related) to be held in all the divisional cities of the country including Dhaka from November 27 to December 11 due to unavoidable reasons. The revised date and schedule of the examination will be published on the website of the Commission in due course.
Earlier, an examination controller of PSC told Jago News that the examination may be suspended around 2.30 pm. He said, ‘As far as I know the exam may be postponed. However, nothing can be said until an official announcement is made.’
It is known that the candidates were reporting security concerns about traveling to the examination center amid the strike-blockade and election activities. Candidates who passed the preliminary examination last November 19 went to the Election Commission and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal demanding the postponement of the examination. A written application was also made to the PSC with the same demand. On Tuesday (November 21), they once again submitted a written application to the CEC.
The PSC released the full schedule and seat allocation for the written exam on Thursday (November 23) evening despite the week-long rush of candidates to catch up. It is informed that the exam will start on November 27. The examinees were angry about this. However, in the face of strong demands from the candidates, the 45th BCS written examination was finally postponed.
Meanwhile, candidates are happy that the exam has been postponed. They are posting on social media Facebook thanking PSC. A person named Hamidullah Kausar Shanta wrote, ‘Thanking Bangladesh Public Works Commission for taking a candidate-friendly decision.’
A candidate named Rezwana Shiuli told Jago News, ‘PSC was adamant to take the exam. Many female candidates have tried last. Going to exam centers in divisional towns is very risky for girls amid political unrest. After being informed of this, the PSC relented and postponed the exam. We are grateful to all the officials including the PSC chairman and members.
The results of the 45th BCS preliminary examination were declared on June 6. A total of 12 thousand 789 people passed the 45th BCS Prelims. A total of 2 thousand 309 people will be appointed as cadre through this BCS. And 1 thousand 22 people will be taken in non-cadre.
