Voting at the Chauara Islamia Fazil Madrasa Center in Ward 26 of Comilla City Corporation is almost closed due to lack of electricity. There is less light inside the polling booth due to cloudy weather. Due to lack of electricity, there is a problem in verifying the identity of the voter and identifying the symbol in the EVM. Older voters in particular are facing problems.

Voting can be done on EVM machine without electricity connection. But the polling booths are dark because of the cloudy weather. In the first hour after the start of voting, 231 votes were cast in this center. The power went out at 9:10. Since then, voting has almost stopped. The total number of voters in this center is 2,026.

Lutfa Begum, 85, came to the center at 8 am to cast her vote. He could not vote even after standing till 10 o’clock in the afternoon. He left without voting because he was ill. Lutfa said in the first light, ‘I could not stand and vote for so long. The situation is chaotic.

EVM problem in Comilla High School Women’s Center, 15 minutes voting closed

Electronic voting machine voting is going on in Comilla City Corporation election. EVM voting is going on in 105 centers in 26 wards of the city from 8 am on Wednesday.

This morning at the Comilla High School female voter center in the 5th ward of the city there was a problem with the EVM at the beginning. Voters got into trouble to cast their vote in EVM at booth No. 1. Due to this, the voters could not cast their vote for about 15 minutes. Later the problem is solved.

Fazlul Karim, presiding officer of the center, said voting was delayed by 15 minutes due to an error in a machine monitor. There were additional EVMs at the center, using which voting began. Voting is going on normally now.

This is the third election of Comilla City Corporation. There are five candidates for the post of mayor in this election. The main contestants are Monirul Haque (table clock) and Arfanul Haque (boat) of Awami League. The other three are Rashedul Islam (hand fan) of Islamic Movement Bangladesh, independent candidate Mohammad Nizamuddin (horse) and Kamrul Ahsan (deer). Among them Monirul Haque was the leader of BNP and Nizamuddin Swechchhasebak Dal. The BNP expelled both of them for disobeying the decision.

EVM voting is taking place in 26 wards of the city. The total number of voters in this election is 2 lakh 29 thousand 920 people. Of these, 1 lakh 18 thousand 92 are female voters and 1 lakh 12 thousand 628 are male voters. And there are two transgender voters. Voting will be held in 640 rooms of 105 polling stations. There are 5 candidates for the post of mayor, 106 candidates for the post of general councilor and 36 candidates for the post of reserved women councilor.

After waiting for two hours, 65-year-old Lutfa Begum could not cast her vote

This is the third time that Comilla City Corporation elections are being held. Earlier, the first election of Comilla City Corporation was held on 5 January 2012. The second election of the city was held on March 30, 2016.

Voting for Comilla City Corporation (CUSIC) elections has started. Voting started at 8 am on Wednesday. One-stop voting in EVM will continue till 4 pm.

According to the Returning Officer’s Office, EVM voting will be held in 26 wards of the city. The total number of voters in this election is 2 lakh 29 thousand 920 people. Of these, 1 lakh 18 thousand 92 are female voters and 1 lakh 12 thousand 628 are male voters. And there are two transgender voters. Voting will be held in 640 rooms of 105 polling stations. There are 5 candidates for the post of mayor, 106 candidates for the post of general councilor and 36 candidates for the post of reserved women councilor.

Five candidates are contesting for the post of mayor in Comilla city election this time. Comilla Metropolitan Awami League general secretary Arfanul Haque (Rifat) is competing with the boat symbol. Monirul Haque (Sakku), the expelled mayor from the BNP and the recently departed mayor of the city, is contesting as an independent candidate with a table clock.
