POBNEWS24.Net, Dhaka, Mar 11, 2021:Isra means to travel at night. The special journey of the Prophet (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Baitul Muqaddas is known as Isra. And mirage means, means of climbing or traveling upwards. Traveling from the surface to the sky. The journey from Baitul Muqaddas to the seven heavens at Sidratul Muntaha and from there back to Baitul Muqaddas is known as Miraj.
Allaah says in the Holy Qur’aan, ‘Holy is He Who guides His slave by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. ‘ (Surah Bani Isra’il, verse: 1)
Allah further said, ‘Surely He has seen him (Gabriel) once more. Near the Sidra tree pointing to the border. Where there is Basodyan. When the Sidra tree is covered as much as it is covered. Then he did not lose his sight and did not cross the line. Surely he has seen the best signs of his Lord. ‘ (Surah Najm, verses: 13-18)
Background: The beloved uncle of the Prophet (peace be upon him) Abu Taleb died. Shortly afterwards, Khadija, the beloved wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), died. Their cooperation for Islam is undeniable. Apart from that, he went to Taif to invite people to Islam. When the residents were invited, they did not respond. In addition, they hurt the Prophet (peace be upon him) by throwing stones. He lulled the children and teenagers behind the Prophet. As a result, he came out feeling overwhelmed. In order to alleviate the distress of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Allah called his dear friend to a private meeting.
Going to Baitul Muqaddas: Narrated from Anas bin Malik, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Borak is brought — Borak is a beast longer than a donkey and shorter than a mule whose footsteps are visible. I climbed it and came to Baitul Muqaddas. Then I tied the vehicle with a ring, the Prophets used to tie the vehicle with it. I enter the mosque and pray two rak’ats. When I came out of the mosque, Jibraeel (AS) brought me two pots. One is wine, the other is milk. Let’s take a jug of milk. Gabriel (peace be upon him) said, “You have accepted the matter of Fitrat.”
Meeting with the Prophets: Gabriel (peace be upon him) met the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was crossing the seven heavens. With Isa bin Maryam and Yahya bin Zakaria in the second heaven, with Yusuf (as) in the third heaven, with Idris (as) in the fourth heaven, with Aaron (as) in the fifth heaven, In the sixth heaven he met Ibrahim (as) and on his return he met Musa (as).
How the five daily prayers became obligatory: ‘Then he took me to Sidratul Muntaha. Its leaves are like elephant ears. Its fruits are like wood. When it is covered by the command of Allah, it changes. No creation of God can describe its beauty. Then God revealed to me. Then he performed the obligatory prayers fifty times every day and night.
I came to Musa (AS). He said, “What has your Rabb imposed on your Ummah?” I said, fifty prayers. He said, you go to the Lord and ask him to make it easier. Your ummah will not be able to observe it. And I have tested the Children of Israel and know about them. Then I went to my Lord and said, ‘O my Lord, make it easy for my Ummah. He prayed five times. I went to Musa (AS) and told him that he had reduced it five times. Moses said, “Your people will not be able to do that.” Go to your Lord and ask for ease. In this way I kept coming and going between the great Rabb and Musa (AS).
In the end, Allaah said, ‘O Muhammad, you have to pray five times a day and night. Each prayer will be rewarded with 10 prayers. Thus the reward of fifty prayers will be. And for anyone who desires a good deed and does not do so, a virtue will be written. And if you do that, ten rewards will be written. And nothing is written about him who desires and does not do evil. And if you do that, a sin is written. ‘
Then I landed and came to Musa (AS). When he was informed again, he said, “Go to your Lord and make an easy request.” I said, I have gone to my Lord many times, now I am ashamed to go again. ‘ (Muslim, Hadith: 162)
