POBNEWS24, Dhaka, May 26, 2024 : Due to the impact of Cyclone Rimal, dangerous goods of shops and houses are being removed from Kalapara coastal area of Patuakhali. Cyclone Rimal, which is located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, has moved northward and intensified into a severe cyclonic storm in the same area. As a result Payra and Mongla seaports have been asked to show distress signal number 10.
On Sunday (May 26) morning, it can be seen that the intensity of the wind is increasing with the rain. Therefore, the families in the coastal area of Patuakhali and the goods of various businesses near the beach of Kuakata beach are being evacuated.

Abdul Jabbar, in-charge of Khepupara radar station center of Kalapara upazila, said that 27 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded so far. At night 10/15 nautical miles the wind intensity is starting to increase. Maximum sustained wind speed is 90 km/h within 64 km of the cyclone center increasing to 120 km/h in gust or gale form.
Patuakhali District Meteorological Officer Mahbuba Sukhi said, under the influence of Rimal, coastal district Patuakhali and the lowlands of remote islands and chars may experience high tide of 08-12 feet higher than the normal tide.
