POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 4, 2024: Uganda played their first ever World Cup match against Afghanistan. But the Afghans taught them cricket. Rashid Khan’s team bowled out Uganda for just 58 runs after scoring 183 runs themselves. Afghanistan won by a huge margin of 125 runs.
Uganda has the 4th lowest score in T20 World Cup history. Netherlands has the lowest score of 39 runs in World Cup history. In 2014, they were bowled out by Sri Lanka for so few runs. The Dutch were all out once for 44 runs. West Indies were all out for 55 runs.

On the other hand, Afghanistan’s 125-run victory is the fourth highest in terms of runs. Sri Lanka won by 172 runs against Kenya in 2007. There are two 130-run wins, one against Scotland in South Africa in 2009, the other against Scotland in Afghanistan in 2021.
The opening partnership of 154 runs by the two Afghan openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran is the fourth highest in the run order. But the second highest in the opening pair. They are preceded by Alex Hales and Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 170-run stand against India.
Riley Russo and Quinton de Kock put on a 168-run stand for the second wicket. Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene put on a 166-run stand for the second wicket, against the West Indies. Next is Gurbaz and Jadran’s partnership of 154 runs.
