POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 5, 2024: US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter De Haas is about to change careers. While in Dhaka, he will probably announce his change of profession. Diplomatic sources say that Peter Haas has decided to resign from the Foreign Service and will take effect within the next two months.
This professional diplomat is joining a multinational company in a different profession i.e. private service. It was supposed to leave Dhaka at the end of this year. He will be replaced by David Slayton Mill. He is currently in China.
Very talented diplomat Peter Haas arrived in Dhaka on March 15, 2022. He highlighted the open position of the United States on the issues of democracy, human rights and elections. This caused a huge reaction in the government circles.
At one point, the government withdrew the police from its security squad. Death threats also come. Before coming to Dhaka, Peter Haas served as Acting Assistant Secretary and concurrently as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs. A graduate of the London School of Economics, the student holds an MSc in Global Economics, Politics and Comparative Government. He was also famous as a martial scholar.
He is also skilled in the diplomatic profession. Received multiple awards. Haas served in London, Jakarta, Rabat, Berlin, Mumbai and other places of the world. Not only Peter Haas, most of the diplomats of the US Embassy in Dhaka are returning home. A host of new and experienced diplomats will join Dhaka early next year.
