POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 20, 2024 : Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma said that there was no discussion on the issue of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is staying in India.
Pranay Verma said this to reporters after a courtesy meeting with Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin on Sunday.
Prannoy Verma was asked whether the Sheikh Hasina issue was discussed in the meeting. In response, he said, there was no specific discussion on this matter. How to take the relationship with the interim government further. We basically discussed how we can take things forward.
Recently, the International Criminal Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina has been ordered to be arrested and produced before the tribunal by November 18.
In a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last Thursday, the foreign adviser said about the return of Sheikh Hasina. Tauhid Hossain said that the interim government will take necessary measures to bring former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back to the country.
Regarding the discussion in the meeting with the secretary, Prannoy Verma said that it was a regular meeting. Part of regular meetings about our relationship. We discussed the security and development of the two countries. We have a positive relationship. We believe that our relationship will contribute to the welfare of the people of both countries. India is dependent on Bangladesh, Bangladesh is dependent on India, the relationship of mutual dependence needs to be further advanced.
Regarding the joint consultative meeting between Bangladesh and India, the High Commissioner said, we want to do FOC soon.
