POBNEWS24, Dhaka Jan 12, 2025 : The magistracy powers of army, navy and air force officers have been extended for the second time from January 14 for another 60 days.
This information was received in a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday (January 12).
It said that commissioned officers of the army captain and above serving in the Bangladesh Armed Forces have been given the powers of special executive magistrates throughout Bangladesh.
Along with them, military officers serving on assignment in the Coast Guard and BGB have also been given the same powers.
This power is granted for 60 days from the date of notification.
The notification states that the powers of this executive magistrate have been given in accordance with sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133 and 142 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898.
Earlier, on November 16 last year, the government issued a notification extending the magisterial powers of the military by 60 days.
On September 17, to control the law and order situation in the country, the army officers were given magisterial powers. A few days later, this power was given to the officers of the Navy and Air Force from September 30.
