POBNEWS24, Kolkata Apr 26, 2025 : Protests and demonstrations are continuously taking place in West Bengal in protest against the killing of tourists in Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir. These protests have demanded that the killers be found and given the ultimate punishment. Protest marches, silent marches, and candlelight processions were held by various political parties and organizations all over Kolkata on Friday evening and night in response to this demand.
On Friday evening, the CPM held a procession from Baghajatin to Ranikuthi in protest against the terrorist attack in Kashmir. The procession demanded that the conspirators behind the killing of tourists in Kashmir be found and punished.
Students and teachers of Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan took out a huge candlelight procession protesting the killing of innocent tourists in Kashmir. They expressed their strong stance against terrorism. The procession started from the premises of Visva-Bharati’s house of worship and ended at the central office premises.
Students of Alia University in Kolkata took out a silent procession to protest the attack on Pahalgam in Kashmir. They demanded strict action against the terrorists. They declared solidarity with the government’s action against the killings. This candlelight and silent procession took place from Park Circus to Dharmatala.
Students at Jadavpur University in Kolkata also took out a protest procession. The Youth Trinamool Congress took out a protest procession in Howrah. The CPM took out a protest procession in Murshidabad’s Berhampur. The Trinamool held a candlelight procession in Krishnanagar, Nadia. Lawyers took out a procession in Burdwan to protest the incident in Kashmir. Local people protested by blocking the road at Kathgola intersection in Barasat. They also burned the Pakistani flag.
The West Bengal political party ISF or Indian Secular Front also took out a separate protest procession demanding strict action against the terrorists and maintaining the communal harmony of the country. ISF protested from Sealdah to Park Street.
Trinamool Youth Congress protested from Kankargachi. They also demanded action against terrorists and to create an atmosphere of peace in West Bengal. Vishwa Hindu Parishad also protested from Bagbazar to Shyambazar in the afternoon against the killing of tourists in Kashmir. They also demanded action against terrorists.
