This information has been confirmed by Railway Minister Nurul Islam. He told reporters at night that the government has taken this decision to prevent the infection in Dhaka. Especially in the western part of the country, the way corona is spreading, there was no alternative but this decision.
The railway has been divided into two regions. These are the western and eastern regions. Train traffic in those areas has already been reduced due to the announcement of lockdowns in various western districts due to the increase in corona transmission. Some intercity trains used to run on the way to Dhaka. As a result of the new decision, no more trains will run in the west. On the other hand, all but three routes in the eastern region will be closed.
Earlier on Monday, the government decided to isolate the capital from the rest of the country to control the corona infection. All activities and activities except emergency services were suspended in seven districts, including four districts around Dhaka, from 6 am on Tuesday. The ban will run until midnight on June 30.
These seven districts are Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj. Long distance buses will not run from Dhaka in these districts. Passenger boats will not run from Dhaka. Train service from Dhaka was also stopped after 12 noon tonight.
