Paraguay forward Brian Samudio scored the header from the corner of Almiron, evading the Chilean defense. Almiron doubled Paraguay’s lead from the penalty spot in the 57th minute after the break. Chile stopped the game in the 61st minute of the match and applied for a penalty but Chile could not bring the referee’s decision in their favor.
Paraguay striker Gonzalez was stopped by Chilean star Vidal. With the help of video assistant referee (VAR) technology, the field referee rejected Chile’s application. Newcastle United’s attacking midfielder Almiron played a key role in Paraguay’s victory.
