POBNEWS24, Dhaka Sept 23, 2025 : Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said, Saudi Arabia holds a special place in the hearts of Bangladeshi people. It is not only the holy land of Islam but also the second home of our more than 3.2 million expatriate workers. The contribution of Saudi expatriates is an important pillar of Bangladesh’s economic progress. And it is also working as a bridge of friendship between our two countries. Saudi Arabia’s continued support for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates is a reminder of the close friendship between the two countries.

The advisor said this while speaking as the chief guest at a program organized by the Saudi Embassy in Bangladesh on the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s 95th National Day at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in the capital on Monday.

The advisor said, the relationship between the Arab world and the people of Bengal is centuries-old, nurtured through trade, cultural exchange and above all our mutual trust. This historic bond of brotherhood has laid the foundation for building our modern diplomatic relations. He said, as we celebrate the fiftieth glorious year of formal diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, we are proud of the fact that the mutual ties between the two countries are based on respect, trust and Islamic traditions that have survived for ages.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, under the visionary leadership of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia has embarked on an ambitious journey towards Vision 2030. This bold and visionary initiative is not only inspiring the people of Saudi Arabia but is also acting as a beacon of progress and innovation in the region. He said, the Saudi leadership’s cooperation in modernizing and diversifying the economy in Bangladesh and enriching future generations is undoubtedly commendable and sincere.

The Advisor said, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia have demonstrated extraordinary statesmanship in enhancing regional stability and contributing to world peace. His leadership has further strengthened the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the role of Saudi Arabia as a respected voice in the international arena. Bangladesh deeply appreciates this effort and wishes the Crown Prince continued success in his noble efforts.

The event was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Jafar H. Bin Abiyyah, members of the diplomatic corps of various countries, high-ranking government officials, prominent industrialists, businessmen and invited guests from various walks of life.
