POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 17, 2025 : Regarding the signing of the July Charter, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh, Abdullah Kafi Ratan, said in a statement, “The July Charter created by Professor Yunus and the King’s Party is a conspiracy and attempt to erase the 1971 constitution. This was their aspiration. It was not possible to discuss whether a constitution will have two parts, the upper house and the lower house. The main principle of the 1971 struggle for independence was distorted.” He said, “This commission of the King’s Party has made an ambition through a very clever way, which the Communist Party considers a subtle deception of the people. There was no option for religious freedom. We met the commission and said that if the issues that conflict with the basic principles of the 1971 constitution are excluded, then we will have no obstacle to signing the charter. The commission did not listen to us. That is why we did not go to sign the charter.” The Communist Party leader said, “The Liberation War is an important event for the people of Bangladesh. This has been excluded, which the people of Bangladesh will not accept.”
It is worth noting that the signing of the July Charter was held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Parliament South Plaza in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
