He is currently undergoing treatment but his condition is very critical. Meanwhile, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strengthened security measures on the Bangladesh-India West Bengal border and the Jessore border area in the wake of the shooting of this NCP leader.
The Jessore Battalion (49 BGB) has started extensive search and patrol activities along the border to prevent those involved in the incident from crossing the border and fleeing to India.
Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commander of the 49 BGB Battalion, confirmed the matter on Monday afternoon. Earlier, at around 12:15 pm, Motaleb Sikder was shot in the Sonadanga area of Khulna. Motaleb Sikder was shot in the left side of his head (left ear).
BGB sources said that immediately after the incident, surveillance was increased in important and risky areas of the Jessore border. At this time, additional BGB members were deployed on the border. At the same time, those border areas where there is no barbed wire fence have been temporarily sealed. Intelligence surveillance has also been strengthened, the BGB said.
49 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui said that the BGB is on the highest alert to ensure that no one involved in the attack on the NCP leader can cross the border in any way. Search operations have been further intensified at every point of the border.
On the other hand, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police recovered 25 springs used to make rifles during a raid in Gowainghat, an Indian border area in Sylhet.
According to police sources, the BGB and police conducted a joint operation based on information that there was a stockpile of Indian weapons in the border area. During this, these springs were recovered abandoned behind a house approximately 500 yards inside Bangladesh from the Pantumai border. No one could be arrested in this. Later, these springs were handed over to the concerned police station.
