POBNEWS24, Mymensingh, Dec 23,2025 : During the beating and burning to death of Dipu Chandra Das (28) in Bhaluka, Mymensingh district, Bangladesh, on charges of blasphemy, Dr. Mohammad Yunus’s education advisor CR Abrar expressed his condolences on behalf of his family. He conveyed the chief advisor’s sympathy and condolences to the family. Meanwhile, an 18-member delegation of human rights activists visited Dipu Das’ house and expressed condolences to the family and demanded justice from the state and society.
At 1 pm on Tuesday, they visited Dipu Das’ house in Mokamiakanda village of Tarakanda upazila of the district and met with the family’s relatives.
At that time, the members of the delegation spoke to Dipu Chandra Das’ wife Megna Rani and inquired about the financial status of her family and the family.
Later, national and international human rights activists assured the family of their support for any need. Shahidul Alam told reporters, “We are shocked and saddened by this incident. We will get justice. Our demand from society and the government is not only justice, but also to take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again. We believe that the state is responsible for supporting Dipu Chandra Das’ family and children. However, we will stand by this family in any need.
Also present in the delegation were Zakir Hossain, CEO of Nagorik Udyog, Seema Dutta, President of Nari Mukti Kendra, writer and former member of the Constitution Reform Commission, Firoz Ahmed, human rights activist Dipayan Khisa, writer and anthropologist Rehnuma Ahmed, etc.
Representatives of the National Law Support Center BLAST, ALRD, and Mandhaka Sangskritik Foundation were also present.
On the night of December 18, Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death by an agitated mob in the Jamirdia Master Bari area of ​​Bhaluka, Mymensingh. Later, his body was stripped naked on the side of the highway, hung from a tree and set on fire. In this incident, the younger brother of the deceased, Apu Das, filed a murder case with Bhaluka Police Station on December 19, accusing 150 unknown people. RAB-police members have so far arrested 12 people in the case. The Mymensingh court has ordered them to be remanded for 3 days for interrogation. The case was handed over to the district detective branch for investigation on Tuesday.
The deceased Dipu Chandra Das is the son of Ravi Chandra Das of Mokamia Kanda village in Tarakanda upazila of the district. Dipu was working as a line supervisor at Jamirdia Pioneer Knitwears BD Limited Company in Bhaluka for the past two years.
Meanwhile, various organizations are continuing to hold protests, human chains and protest rallies against the beating and burning of garment worker Dipu Chandra Das on false charges of blasphemy and the vandalism, looting and arson of Prothom Alo-Daily Star, Sajeda Begum Saju, Chhayanot and Udichi.
On Tuesday afternoon, artists from the Udichi artist group held a human chain, rally and performed protest songs in front of the Mymensingh Press Club. CPB District President Advocate Emdadul Haque Millat, General Secretary Bahar Majumder, women leader Professor Ferddous Ara Mahmuda Helen and others spoke at the time.
In addition, the Samaj Vantar Sangkriti Sangha has held a protest rally demanding the arrest and speedy trial of all the criminals involved in the murder of Dipu Das and the burning of his body. In the afternoon, speakers at the human chain at the city’s Firoz-Jahangir square called on everyone to unite in nurturing the spirit of the national culture and the liberation war.
