POBNEWS24, Dhaka Mar 21, 2026 : Former Chief Advisor to the recently departed interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus exchanged Eid greetings with Prime Minister Tareque Rahman and his family.
The meeting was held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday afternoon.
The Prime Minister’s wife Dr. Jobaida Rahman, daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman and brother late Arafat Rahman’s wife Sharmila Rahman and other family members were present at the time.
Saherul Kabir Khan, one of the coordinators of the BNP’s media cell, said that during the meeting, they inquired about each other, engaged in a brief chat and took pictures together.
During this time, importance was laid on further strengthening national unity, political stability and democratic trends.
Both sides wished the countrymen happiness, peace and prosperity on this holy occasion of Eid. They also expressed their determination to work together for the welfare of the people.
Earlier, Prime Minister Tareque Rahman participated in the main congregation of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr at the National Eidgah Maidan at 8:30 am. President Md. Sahabuddin and the Prime Minister offered prayers together and participated in a special prayer there for the welfare of the country and the nation. Later, Tarique Rahman returned directly to the Prime Minister’s State Guest House in Jamuna. There, a large number of common people and party leaders and activists gathered there from the morning to share the joy of Eid with the Prime Minister. When the main gate was opened at 8:30 am for people coming from different parts of the capital, the entire area immediately turned into a crowd.
His wife Zubaida Rahman and daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman were present at the greeting exchange ceremony. The Prime Minister shook hands with the guests who came with family members and exchanged Eid greetings and good wishes.
It is worth noting that Eid-ul-Fitr, the most religious festival of Muslims, is celebrated with enthusiasm and solemnity across the country.
