POBNEWS24, Dhaka, April 17, 2026 : Five thousand more metric tons of diesel have started arriving at the Dinajpur-Parbatipur Padma Oil Depot through the Friendship Pipeline from India.
Ahsan Habib Chowdhury, Government Manager of the Dinajpur-Parbatipur Padma Oil Depot, confirmed this information at 3:30 pm on Friday.
He said that this diesel has started arriving at the Parbatipur Rail Head Depot since the morning of Thursday, April 16.
According to sources, the last time 8 thousand metric tons of diesel arrived at the Parbatipur Rail Head Depot from Numaligarh, India through this pipeline on April 14. Earlier, 22 thousand metric tons of diesel arrived in the month of March. In total, a total of 30 thousand metric tons of diesel arrived at the Parbatipur Rail Head Depot from Numaligarh, India from March to April 14.
The depot authorities said that it will take approximately 50 hours to bring 5,000 metric tons of diesel. Once this oil is finished arriving, another 7,000 metric tons of diesel will arrive from India’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited in the next 4 to 5 days.
The government has continued to import diesel from India through the pipeline to ensure the country’s energy security.
Earlier, 5,000 metric tons of diesel arrived at the Parbatipur depot in Dinajpur through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline in the first phase on March 11. The authorities have kept the depot open on Friday, a holiday, to maintain the supply of fuel oil.
Sources at the depot have confirmed that there is a plan to bring a total of 30,000 metric tons of diesel from India through the pipeline in 5 phases this April.
