POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Aug 30, 2021:Another 1 million Pfizer vaccines from the United States are coming to the country today. A Qatar Airways flight is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday (August 30) at 6.15pm with a consignment of gift tickers under Covax facilities.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Health Minister Zahid Malek and US Ambassador to Dhaka Robert Miller will be present at the airport.
This information was given in a statement of the Ministry of Health last week.
Earlier, after a cabinet meeting at noon on Monday (August 23), Health Minister Zahid Malek told the Secretariat that another 8 million Pfizer vaccines would be available from the United States in September alone. As part of this, 1 million doses of vaccine are coming to the country on the evening of August 30. He said the remaining 5 million vaccines would be delivered to the country by September.
Pfizer’s vaccine for emergency use was approved on May 28. Pfizer-Bioentech vaccination program started in the morning of June 21 in three hospitals of the capital.
Earlier, on May 31, the first consignment of one lakh 720 doses of Pfizer-Bioentech delivered by the United States reached the country through Covax facilities.
