Coach Oscar Brujan made a change in the XI in the second half. Saduddin was fielded instead of Jewel Runner. In the 56th minute, a Sri Lankan defender took the ball in his hand to stop Bangladesh’s attack.
When the referee ordered a penalty, Tapu Varman put the team ahead with a goal. This Tapui could have scored a goal in the injury time of the first half. The forward took a great header from Yassin Arafat’s long cross. But the Sri Lankan goalkeeper jumped to the left and saved the team in exchange for a corner.
However, the Lankans were not saved in the end. Tapur’s only goal from the penalty spot left Bangladesh with a win in the end.
