POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Oct 4, 2021:More than 600 Pakistanis have been named in the newly leaked Pandora Papers. Among them are people from close circles, including members of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet. This information was given in the online report of Pakistan’s The Dawn newspaper on Monday.
The information has been leaked about the money kept by the influential people of different countries in the companies of the countries and regions known as tax havens and made secret transactions. It has been named Pandora Papers. Several media outlets, including the Guardian and the BBC, have analyzed 11 million documents from those companies and published the data.
According to the report, leaked documents show that key members of Imran Khan’s close circle have secretly invested in offshore companies. Among them are cabinet members, their family members and key financial backers.
According to the report, Prime Minister Imran Khan promised a new Pakistan. But members of his inner circle have secretly invested millions of dollars in offshore companies.
Among those named in the Pandora Papers are Pakistani Finance Minister Shawkat Tarin and his family members, Senator Faisal Wada, PML-Q leader Chowdhury Monis Elahi, PPP’s Sharjeel Memon, Industries and Production Minister Khoshro Bakhtiyar’s family, PTI leader Abdul Alim Khan and others.
The names of Pakistan’s military leaders have also appeared in the Pandora Papers. According to the report, there is no indication in the documents that Imran Khan himself owns any offshore company.
Pakistan’s Finance Minister Shawkat Tarin and his family members own four offshore companies, the report said.
The document also names the son of Imran Khan’s former finance and revenue adviser Waqar Masood Khan.
Arif Naqvi, a top donor to Pakistan’s ruling PTI, is named in the Pandora Papers. He is also accused of fraud in the United States.
