POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 27, 2021:A row row ferry named Shah Amanat sank at Paturia in Manikganj. The incident took place at Paturia’s Ghat No. 5 around 10:15 am on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Director (Commerce) SM Ashiquzzaman confirmed the news in the first light. He said there were 16 trucks on the ferry. However, no details were known. Besides the fire service, BIWTC people are also taking part in the rescue operation, he said.
According to local sources, the ferry anchored at Ferry Wharf No. 5 in Paturia with vehicles from Daulatdia Ghat. At that time, after two to three vehicles got off the ferry, one side of the ferry tilted. The ferry sank.
