POBNEWS24, Dhaka Nov 3, 2021 :The High Court has directed the Rangpur Haragachh police station to submit the report of a four-member committee formed in connection with the alleged torture and murder of a man named Tajul Islam. The autopsy report of the body and a copy of the case of unnatural death have been asked to be submitted by November 11.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the order on Wednesday with a self-motivated rule. At the same time, the court has fixed November 15 for the next order.
Police were charged with torturing and killing a man named Tajul Islam. Lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua read out the media report on the matter on Tuesday. The court then asked the state to inform about the matter. In its continuation, the issue came up today.
Deputy Attorney General Amit Das presented confidential information on behalf of the state in court. Lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua, who brought media reports to the notice, conducted the hearing.
Later, Jyotirmoy Barua told Prothom Alo that a four-member committee headed by the Additional Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police has been formed to investigate the incident. The High Court directed to submit the report of the committee, autopsy report of the body and copy of the case of unnatural death.
A copy of the inquest report was submitted in the information presented by the state. The inquest report prepared by the district magistrate of Rangpur stated that the condition of the body was normal and there were no signs of injuries.
