POBNEWS24, Dhaka Nov 6, 2021 :BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the level of oppression on ordinary consumers has been increased by increasing the prices of daily necessities. It is a sad fact that this government is not elected by the people. They have no responsibility, no accountability anywhere. Only the party traders are raising the prices of daily necessities to make their pockets heavier. All in all, the government is behaving repressively.
Before returning to Dhaka, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this while exchanging views with journalists at his residence in Kalibari area of Thakurgaon city at around 4.15 pm on Thursday. Mirza Fakhrul said the government has increased the price of fuel oil abnormally. The price of diesel was 65 rupees, it has been increased to 60 rupees. The price of kerosene was 60 rupees, it has been made 65 rupees. The price of LP gas was 48 rupees 90 paise, it has been made 59 rupees 90 paise. The price was increased on Wednesday night.
The BNP secretary general said the rise in commodity prices would put tremendous pressure on the country’s overall economy. At the same time people’s purchasing power will decrease, real income will decrease. Which will have a negative impact on the economy of Bangladesh.
The BNP secretary general said, “We see that on the one hand, people are struggling due to the rise in prices of rice, pulses, salt, sugar and other essential commodities. Their lives have become miserable. At that time, the price of this fuel oil was increased again.” This will increase the cost of transportation. And as the cost of transportation increases, so will the price of each commodity. Electricity prices, on the other hand, have risen two to three times a year, creating unbearable conditions for ordinary consumers. We think that the rise in commodity prices will put tremendous pressure on the overall economy of the country. At the same time people’s purchasing power will decrease, real income will decrease. Which will have a negative impact on the economy of Bangladesh.
Asked whether he would take action against the rise in fuel and commodity prices, Mirza Fakhrul said, “We will discuss what programs can be taken in Dhaka.” Transport owners and workers have announced a strike in protest of rising fuel prices. We will support such a program.
Thakurgaon district BNP vice-president Nur Karim, Nur E Shahadat, Abu Taher, finance secretary Shariful Islam, Sadar upazila BNP general secretary Abdul Hamid, municipal BNP general secretary Tariq Adnan and leaders and workers of various BNP organizations were present at the time.
