POBNEWS24, Desk report, Nov 24, 2021: The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has sentenced Abdul Momin Talukder, a former BNP MP from Bogra, to death for crimes against humanity during the 1971 war of liberation.
The verdict was announced by the tribunal on Wednesday. Momin Talukder, who was sentenced to death, escaped.

Prosecutors Sultan Mahmud and Rezia Sultana represented the state at the tribunal. Momin Talukder was represented by state-appointed lawyer MA Hasan.
The tribunal later fixed today (November 24) for the verdict. According to him, the verdict was announced today.
After announcing the verdict of the tribunal today, Rezia Sultana told Prothom Alo that three charges of crimes against humanity were brought against Momin Talukder during the war of liberation in 1971. Among them, 19 people have been charged with murder and genocide and 19 houses have been looted and set on fire. All the three charges brought against him have been proved in the tribunal.
Rezia Sultana further said that the tribunal had sentenced Momin Talukder to death on all the three charges as it was proved.
