POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Dec 14, 2021 : Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said efforts would be made to change the US sanctions against seven former and current RAB officials. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen made the remarks at a virtual briefing here on Tuesday. The briefing was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs on the occasion of the visit of Indian President Ramnath Kobind.
Referring to the US sanctions on three ministers as prime ministers, Abdul Momen said: “The sanctions imposed by the United States are regrettable. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the responsibility to the Law Minister, Home Minister and me to discuss this issue and give an answer one by one. It would not be right to answer in a hurry. ‘
Criticizing the US move on extrajudicial killings and disappearances in the United States, Abdul Momen said, “I have never heard of anyone in the United States being punished for doing this. But at the instigation of some people in Bangladesh, due to some organizations, especially human rights and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such a big decision was forced without discussion.
The United States has a very good relationship with us. I am constantly discussing various issues with them. We will discuss with them why this was done without telling them suddenly. Not all of their decisions are correct, there are many examples of this. Among them are mature and wise men. We will make every effort to change their condition.
