POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Dec 20, 2021: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the members of the navy to work hand in hand with the army and air force to safeguard the sovereignty and security of the country. Sheikh Hasina made the call while addressing as the chief guest at the Winter Presidential Parade of ‘Midshipman 2019 Alpha’ and ‘DEO 2021 Bravo’ batch of Bangladesh Navy on Monday (December 20).
Addressing the trainees, the Prime Minister further said, “I am very happy to be able to enjoy your wonderful parade today. In spite of the corona situation, you have shown your indomitable interest, strong morale and courageous mentality in facing future challenges by spontaneously participating in the ongoing training activities at Bangladesh Naval Academy. I hope you will show such discretion and leadership qualities in any crisis of work or personal life.
He said, “After the training, today you are going to enter the career of 44 trainees as commissioned officers of Bangladesh Navy.” I believe that you will work tirelessly for the protection of the sovereignty and security of the motherland by becoming strong in the spirit of liberation war in your career. You have to remember that the hard training you get is just the beginning.
The Prime Minister participated virtually from the official residence Ganobhaban at the event organized at Bangladesh Naval Academy in Chittagong. Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh Navy today has gained the status of a highly disciplined, efficient and professional force not only in the country but also in the international arena. Their self-sacrifice and dedication in all fields, including the UN peacekeeping mission, has brought rare honor and dignity to Bangladesh, which has also brightened the image of Bangladesh abroad.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina further said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib brought freedom to our country. He realized the need to protect the vast sea area of Bangladesh, to protect its sovereignty and to ensure our rights there – so that we can use the sea resources for our socio-economic development.
Sheikh Hasina said that with this aim she took steps to build an efficient, strong modern and technology based navy after independence. He collected 5 modern warships from Yugoslavia and India. He further said that on 10 December 1974, Bangabandhu made the Bangladesh Navy chief of ‘Naval Ensign’.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina further said, “Our government is working relentlessly for the development of the armed forces as well as for the socio-economic development of the country.”
