POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Jan 23, 2022 : Where the Test series ended, South Africa’s ODI series seems to have started from there. After losing to India in the first Test, the Proteas turned around in the second Test. They won the Test series by winning two matches in a row. South Africa have already secured a three-match ODI series win by winning the first two matches. Today, in the third and final ODI of the series, Temba Babuma’s team is going to play with a handful of world records.

When India set foot in South Africa, from cricket connoisseurs to ordinary cricket fans, most people thought India was their favorite in the Test and ODI series. The Indian team is packed with star players. And South Africa is going through a process of team restructuring. They are slowly recovering. But whether it is such a team or not, it left India with Nakanichubani. It is the last match of the tour for India to eat Nakanichubani, but the mission is to save the standard.

South Africa, who have won the series without Pace attackers Kagiso Rabada and Anrikh Narkie, have little choice. The series is also not part of the World Cup Super League. But the world record is calling them in this match. If South Africa wins this match, they will make history by beating their opponents for the 20th time in at least a three-match bilateral ODI series.

Pakistan now holds the world record for whitewashing an opponent 20 times in at least a three-match ODI series. If India can beat India today, South Africa will share that record. New Zealand is the third highest scorer 16 times after South Africa have beaten their opponents 19 times. South Africa last beat Australia in at least a three-match bilateral ODI series in 2020, at home to Australia.

If India lose today, it will be the fifth time in a three-match bilateral ODI series for India that they have been whitewashed. And South Africa will be the second team to whitewash India twice. Earlier, only the West Indies made history by whitewashing India twice in the ODI series. For the first time in 1973, on Indian soil. This is the second time they have achieved this feat in their own field in 1989. New Zealand is another team that has given India a bitter taste of whitewashing in the ODI series. The Kiwis did it at home in 2020.

One thing that could be a cause for concern for Indian cricket fans before this match is the match in Cape Town. South Africa have won 31 of 36 ODIs at the ground, with a winning rate of 63.6. This is more than any other venue in their field.
