POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Jan 24, 2022 : The University Teachers Network has called for a symbolic hunger strike in support of the student movement demanding the resignation of Farid Uddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SHUST) in Sylhet. They will go on a symbolic hunger strike at the foot of the invincible Bengal of Dhaka University on Monday.
This information was given by Samina Lutfa, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, Dhaka University in a press release sent to the media on behalf of Teachers Network. The teachers ‘network has decided to go on a symbolic hunger strike at the foot of the invincible Bengal of Dhaka University from 12 noon to 3 pm today in protest of the attack on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology for several days, demanding protection of students’ lives and their just demands.
Meanwhile, as time goes on, public support for the student movement is also increasing. Yesterday, 35 organizations in Sylhet issued a statement in support of the students, the two organizations declared solidarity. Besides, 101 former BCL leaders of the university have made three demands to the Prime Minister. And this time the teachers have called for a symbolic hunger strike in solidarity with the network movement.
