POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Jan 25, 2022 : The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 10 projects including 6 BITAC training centers in Gopalganj, Sunamganj, Barisal and Rangpur, Jamalpur and Jessore districts. The total cost for the implementation of the projects has been estimated at Tk 4,621.34 crore. Of this, Tk 3,055.21 crore will be spent from government funds and Tk 1,058.13 crore from foreign loans.
The approval was given at the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday (January 25).
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina. The rest of the ECNEC members, including Planning Minister MA Mannan, were in the NEC conference room in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at the time.
Among the projects approved by ECNEC, Netrokona-Bishiura-Ishwarganj road project cost Tk. 220 crore. The cost of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission building construction project has been estimated at Tk 59.21 crore. The cost of construction project of 17 regional passport offices has been estimated at Tk 41.40 crore. The cost of the project to establish Sheikh Hasina Cantonment Barisal has been estimated at Tk 331.10 crore. The cost of the Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management project has been estimated at Tk 106.06 crore. The cost of agricultural development project in Sylhet region through modern technology has been estimated at Tk. 200 crore 54 lakhs. The cost of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, Gazipur approach road widening and other necessary infrastructure development projects has been estimated at Tk 3 crore 2 lakh. The cost of the Flood and Riverbank Irrigation Risk Management Investment Program has been estimated at Tk 1,703.06 crore.
The cost of setting up the urea formaldehyde-65 (UF-65) plant project has been estimated at Tk 624.30 crore. The cost of setting up 6 centers of BITAC in Gopalganj, Sunamganj, Barisal, Rangpur, Jamalpur and Jessore districts has been estimated at Tk 1,132.61 crore.
