POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Jan 27, 2022 : Two more transats have been added to line 6 of the metro rail. Metro Rail Train No. 9 reached Diabari Depot on Wednesday. The trance number 10 is kept at the newly constructed jetty on the banks of Turag river. From there this transet will be taken to the depot today.

As a result, all the transit trains in the first phase are reaching Diabari.

ABM Arifur Rahman, project manager of Metro Rail, told Kaler Kantha yesterday, “The train sets arrived at the jetty on the banks of Turag river on Tuesday evening. Today (Wednesday) the first Transet (No. 9) has been brought to the depot. The rest of the set will be brought tomorrow. ‘

Arifur Rahman said that the transit trains left Kobe port of Japan for Mongla on December 1. Arrived at Mongla port on 31st December. After completing all the procedures, the trains left Mongla port on 19 January for Diabari. Arrived at the newly constructed jetty on the Turag river on 25th January.

According to Metro Rail sources, the country’s first city train will run 24 sets of trains. However, initially with 10 sets of trains, the Metro Rail will start running on 11.63 km from Diabari Depot in Uttara to Agargaon on December 16.

Earlier, a shunting locomotive (engine) arrived in the country to join the fleet of metro rail. Two locomotives arrived at Chittagong port from Italy last Saturday. One of the two locomotives is battery powered, the other is diesel powered. These engines are made in Italy.

Meanwhile, the construction work of Metro Rail flyover is coming to an end on Thursday. The last girder is going to sit on the 20.10 km long road from Uttara to Motijheel today. As a result, the entire route of the metro rail will be connected in one line.

Although there are a total of 16 stations on this route of Metro Rail, initially the movement of Metro Rail will be limited to 9 stations from next December to Agargaon. The trial run of Metro Rail from Uttara started on 29th August last year. Then he took six coaches from Diabari to Mirpur 12 station. Metro rail was run experimentally up to Mirpur 10 in two phases. The last test operation was completed till 12 December, Agargaon.
