POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 18, 2022 : Police have so far not filed any case in connection with an attack on Sri Sri Radhakanta Geo Mandir, run by ISKCON in Wari, in Dhaka city on Thursday night.
Sources said, the devotees of the temple were performing a religious ceremony on March 17.
At about 7.30 pm, at least 80/100 miscreants, who came in three trucks, got out of the trucks, and started attacking the devotees by chanting slogans like ‘Allahu Akbar’. At that time, many of the devotees inside the temple ran away in panic, but two devotees were beaten by the attackers.
The attackers also vandalized the tin canopy and a Saraswati idol in the temple and took away a number of materials, including iron rods used in the construction of the temple.
Later, a devotee Sumantra Chanda went to Wari Police Station to file a case on Thursday night, but police reportedly refused to take the case.
Meanwhile, Hindu Kallyan Foundation, Bangladesh Sanatan Kalyan Jote and other Hindu organizations held a human chain in front of the National Press Club this (Friday) afternoon to protest against the incident.
