POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Apr 5, 2022 : The seven-day remand of shooter Masum Mohammad Akash, arrested in connection with the murder of former general secretary of Motijheel Thana Awami League Zahidul Islam Tipu, is coming to an end today. He will be sent to court on Tuesday.
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). An official of the intelligence branch confirmed the information and said that Masum had given important information during his seven-day remand.
On the day of the incident, he went to Shahjahanpur on the motorcycle of his friend Mollah Shamim and confessed to killing Tipu. Mollah Shamim is also under their surveillance.
Masum further told DB during interrogation that an acquaintance had given him a weapon. After killing Tipu, he handed over the weapon and the motorcycle to a man.
Meanwhile, RAB arrested four people, including Awami League leader Omar Farooq, on suspicion of plotting to assassinate Tipu last Friday. They were later handed over to the investigating agency DB.
DB sought their 10-day remand after appearing in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court last Sunday. The court granted a five-day remand to each. Interrogation is going on in their DB custody.
