POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Apr 13, 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the amount of foreign debt of Bangladesh is still far below the risk limit. He directed the persons concerned to maintain the present position of the debt.
The Prime Minister gave these instructions while witnessing presentations on ‘Offshore Tax Amnesty’ and ‘Review of Bangladesh’s macroeconomics in the context of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis’ at Ganobhaban on Tuesday. This was stated in a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.
The National Board of Revenue and the Finance Department made presentations on those two issues. However, in the context of abnormal rise in prices of fuels, food items, etc. in the international market, emphasis has been laid on the implementation of an integrated monetary policy and monetary policy to control inflation in the domestic market as ‘imported inflation’. Analyzing the various indicators of the economy, it is seen that in the medium and long term, there is no risk in repaying the foreign debt of Bangladesh.
