POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Apr 15, 2022 : Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT adviser to the Prime Minister, said that religious orthodoxy has never been able to oppress Bengalis in the long run. The majority of our citizens are devout Muslims, but not bigots.
On his verified Facebook account on Thursday, he wished the countrymen a happy Bengali New Year and said that our forefathers once stood up against the religious businessmen to protect the Bengali language and culture. As a result, the Awami League won 223 out of 237 Muslim seats in the 1954 United Front elections.
On the other hand, after getting only 9 seats, the religious businessmen got wiped out. The people of Bengal are traditionally simple-minded and religious, but not religious or religious.
Referring to the spirit of the great liberation war of 1971, Sajeeb Wazed Joy said, “As you know, secularism is one of the four pillars on which Bangladesh was established through the long liberation struggle and the war of independence in 1971.”
“Everyone will follow their own religion, respect the religion of others, and no one will resort to violence against religion – that is the essence of secularism,” he said. With this, there is no difference in the ethno-Bengali culture. Culturally we are a very rich nation. The Bengali nation under the leadership of Bangabandhu started the war of independence from the movement to protect their language and culture. He mentioned that it is the moral duty of every citizen to cultivate their own culture in that independent country which has been achieved at the cost of many sacrifices.
He said that the language and culture for which our forefathers had fought for almost two decades, the three million people who gave their lives for the establishment of an independent state based on exploitation, today, with the foresight of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country stands tall in the world as a digital state. Respecting the inexhaustible sacrifices of the ancestors, it is necessary to develop the traditional Bengali culture in this country. The main cultural tradition of abhaman bengal is non-communalism, co-existence of all members of the society irrespective of religion, caste and creed. Let the new year begin with the conviction of building a modern Bangladesh of peace and prosperity.
Sajib Wazed Joy said, “Let the development of Bengali language and thousand years of Bengali culture take place in the hands of our new generation.” Let the Boishakh bring vitality back to the corona-free country. Let everyone start walking the path of harmony from the first day of the new year.
He said that every Bengali should practice their religion peacefully and at the same time cherish the cultural heritage of thousands of years. Those who want to create controversy about it do not hold Bangladesh, Bangladesh’s independence and culture. Let us all work together shoulder to shoulder to establish a peaceful society for future generations.
