POBNEWS24, Dhaka, April 26, 2022 : Terming India and Bangladesh as friendly countries, Omar Farooq, President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), called on journalists of the two countries to be more careful in covering news.
He was speaking as the chief guest at an Iftar programme arranged by the Indian Media Correspondents Association Bangladesh (IMCAB), an organization of journalists working in Bangladesh for Indian media, at National Press Club today (April 26).
Omar Farooq said, Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman resolved many unresolved issues between Bangladesh and India after 1971. Now his dream is being implemented. This country became independent by following the path of secular spirit. At present, Sheikh Hasina’s government is moving towards that goal. Journalists of the two countries need to cover the news keeping that in mind, he added.
Mir Afroz Zaman, UNI Dhaka Special Correspondent and Deputy General Secretary of IMCAB, said that people all over the world are aware of the atrocities committed by Pakistan against us in 1971. We had won at that time, because India was by our side during the difficult period of Bengalis. We have to keep this in mind all the time and present the news taking it into consideration, he observed.
President of the organization Basudeb Dhar presided over the function and Aminul Islam Bhuiyan Moderated it.
Special guests Prashar Bharati and All India Radio correspondent Rajesh Jhan, General Secretary Masum Billah, Quddus Afrad, Nirmal Chakraborty, Rafiqul Islam Sabuj, Nikhil Bhadra, Abu Ali, Kauser Azam, Siam, and Sarwar Jamil also spoke.
