On the occasion of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge, people are coming to the meeting place on both sides of the bridge wearing T-shirts of different colors. The two sides have been arranged to make the moment of inauguration of the bridge memorable. Important installations and buildings of the country have been illuminated. The people of the country are eagerly waiting to see the ribbon-cutting scene of the bridge in the morning.

Millions of people are waiting for the inauguration announcement
Millions of people in the south are waiting for the Prime Minister to inaugurate the dream Padma Bridge and come to them. People started coming to Jajira’s Naodoba and Shibchar’s Kathalbari from Friday night to witness the inauguration of the Padma Bridge and to hear the speech of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Apart from 21 districts in the south and south-west, people have come from Chandpur, Laxmipur, Comilla, Noakhali, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur and Manikganj. By 8 am, the roads in at least four unions of Jajira and Shibchar became crowded. People used to come to the gathering place along different roads of the village. Awami League leaders and workers and people of different professions filled the 6 km area of the Padma bank.
The Padma Bridge will be inaugurated shortly. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has come to the Mawa end of the much-desired bridge. He will address the first gathering there. He will unveil the inaugural plaque at the end of his address at the Sudhi rally at the end of Mawa. It will immediately open an endless door of connection, communication and potential for the 19 districts of the south and south-west with the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country.

Many people are walking due to the pressure of vehicles. Local Awami League leaders and activists are taking out a procession from the surrounding area. They are greeting and congratulating the Prime Minister with banner festoons and placards. The crowd of ordinary people in the meeting place is increasing. Transport worker Iqbal Hossain came from Kashiani in Gopalganj. On his way to the public meeting place, he told Prothom Alo, ‘We have brought 50 people from one village in a bus. I am going to the meeting on foot as there is a traffic jam. Even if it is a little difficult, I feel happy. It’s good to see so many people. Apart from that, after today, Thika Amago will not have to stay at this wharf for hours for ferries like this. What could be happier than this? ‘
He was talking to easybike driver Hiran Sheikh on the road connecting Banglabazar Ghat. Hiran hails from Mahishadia area of Dighalia police station in Khulna. He is accompanied by about 90 others. Everyone lives in the same area. The Hiranas, led by a local chairman, brought two buses to the PM’s public meeting place.
