POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 25, 2022 : This time the number of cattle supply for Korbani Hat has been increased by more than two lakh. This year 1 crore 21 lakh 24 thousand 379 animals including cows, goats, sheep and camels have been prepared. According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.
Like last time, this time too, private entrepreneurs as well as the government have made arrangements to sell sacrificial animals on online platforms. If the government does not like the cows purchased online, a refund system is being added this year.
According to the Department of Livestock, the number of animals to be sacrificed last year was 1 crore 19 lakh 17 thousand 85. Of these, 90 lakh 93 thousand 242 animals were sacrificed. About 26 lakh cattle were not sold.
An inter-ministerial meeting on Korbani Hat was held at the conference room of the Livestock Department at Farmgate in the capital on Thursday. On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the overall situation regarding the assessment of demand, supply and ensuring free transportation of sacrificial animals was reviewed.
It was said at the meeting that the recent floods and tidal surges in the Sylhet-Sunamganj region have caused some damage to cattle. There, the Department of Livestock is providing food and treatment to the cattle. Arrangements will be made so that animals from other areas can go to that area at the time of sacrifice.
It was further said in the meeting that besides this time the vehicles transporting the sacrificial animals on the road or bridge will be given priority. In this case, a control room will be set up in the Livestock Department and the hotline 18356 will be open. The control room will work to solve the problems of farmers in animal transport.
All measures will be taken to avoid any problem in animal sacrifice.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sham Rezaul Karim said the government was fully prepared for the celebration.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister told that hygiene rules will be followed at the Korbani market. Diseased animals will not be allowed to be sold at the market. Adequate members will be appointed to maintain law and order.
