POBNEWS24, Aug 5, 2022 : The Chinese ship Yuan One 5 has reached the port of Hambantota in the southern tip of Sri Lanka. The ship will arrive at the port between August 11 and 17.
This ship can track ballistic missiles. Many antennas are installed on ships. The antenna can also pick up satellite signals. There are 400 workers on board.
Along with China’s military exercises around Taiwan, the incident of sending ships to Sri Lanka happened. If this ship is in Sri Lankan port, they can also monitor India’s missile tests. If India tests the missile, China will get its detailed information.
India is worried about this Chinese ship. The ship is controlled by China’s National Process Administration and is loaded with military equipment.
Sri Lankan Defense Ministry spokesperson Nalin Herath said they are aware of India’s concerns. But this is a ‘routine exercise’. Herath said, if the ships of countries like India, China, Russia, Japan ask for permission to enter the territorial waters, it is given immediately.
In 2014, China’s submarine Hambantota arrived.After India strongly protested, such incidents did not happen again.This time, Sri Lanka says that China will use this ship only for observation purposes.
