POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Aug 14, 2022: The police recovered the dead body of Khairun Nahar (41), a college teacher from Natore, who came under discussion after marrying a college student. The body was recovered from a rented house in Ballaripara Mohalla of Natore city at around seven in the morning today. In this incident, her husband Mamun Hossain (23) was arrested and taken to the police station.

According to the sources of Natore Sadar police station, Mamun-Khairun couple lived on the fourth floor of Nannu Molla mansion in Ballaripara Mohalla. At around seven in the morning, Mamun told the people of the nearby houses that his wife Khairun had committed suicide. Then the people around went to the drawing room of their house and saw Khairun’s body lying on the floor. As the local people got suspicious, they detained Mamun. Mamun claimed to the people present at that time that his wife committed suicide by twisting the veil on the ceiling fan.

Nizam Uddin, watchman of Nannu Molla Mansion, said that they were the only ones in the house of the Mamun-Khairun couple last Saturday night. Around two in the morning, Mamun took the key to the main gate from him and went out. He returned home at six o’clock in the morning and told us that his wife had committed suicide at seven o’clock.

According to the guard, there is no sign of injury on Khairun’s body. But there is a scar on the neck. The ceiling fan in the drawing room showed some charred cloth. Some parts of the cloth were also lying on the floor. He asked Mamun early in the morning about the burnt cloth. At that time he said that he was sleeping in the bedroom at the time of the incident. He heard a noise in the next room and saw his wife hanging. He set fire to the veil to open it.

Khairun’s cousin Chhaber Uddin said this morning that his sister was an assistant professor of philosophy at Khubjipur Degree College in Gurdaspur Upazila of Natore. He is from Gurdaspur Upazila of Chanchkoid Municipal Area. Khair Uddin’s daughter. Her second husband Mamun Hossain is a resident of Patpara village of Dharabarisha Union of the same upazila and a second year degree student of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula Government College, Natore. After divorcing her first husband, she lived with one son.

According to family members, Mamun and Khairun got married in December last year after six months of relationship. The couple came into discussion when their marriage was announced last July.

Officer-in-charge of Natore Police Station. Nashim Ahmed told Prothom Alo that after the body of the teacher was recovered, they started an investigation to find out the cause of her death. After the post-mortem, it will be confirmed whether the teacher was killed or committed suicide.
