There is geopolitical pressure on Bangladesh with this project. But it is a matter of Bangladesh’s will, China will take initiative of Teesta project if Bangladesh wants. He made this comment in his speech as a special guest of the seminar after the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China organized by the Bangladesh-China Silk Road Forum at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Saturday.
During the question and answer session at the seminar, the Chinese ambassador said, ‘China is one of the main development partners of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has offered us the Teesta project. As a result, China is willing to do the Teesta project keeping in mind the solution to Bangladesh’s water problem. We have been involved in water management for thousands of years. ‘
In response to the Rohingya repatriation question, Li Ziming said, ‘Our main goal is the Rohingya repatriation. Important progress has been made since our meeting. Both Bangladesh and Myanmar are friends of China, so an amicable solution to this crisis is China’s goal. Many do not want Rohingya repatriation to happen quickly. Their commercial interests are involved here. ‘
The Chinese ambassador complained that European countries are not playing a proper role in stopping the Russian-Ukraine war. He said, ‘China is interested in establishing peace in the world. Many countries are calculating their own business against initiatives to end the war, as evidenced by the energy crisis. As a result of this crisis, Asian countries are suffering the most. Prices of daily necessities are increasing. ‘
Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon said in the seminar, ‘China’s commitment to maintain peace and stability in the Asian region, they want peace. As they achieve economic growth, they are becoming a world power. China is also playing a major role in the development activities of Bangladesh. ‘
