POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 14, 2022 : Dhaka is the third most populous city in the list of cities with the most polluted air in the world. Dhaka’s Air Quality Index (AQI) score at 11 am today, Monday (November 14), was recorded at 179, indicating ‘unhealthy’ air quality.
The report was published by Switzerland-based organization ‘IQAir’. India’s New Delhi ranks first in this list with an AQI score of 213; Kolkata city of India is in second place with 187 score.
An AQI score of 100 to 200 is considered ‘unhealthy’ especially for sensitive groups. The air in this region is composed of all kinds of solid and liquid particles, most of which are hazardous. Causes a variety of diseases harmful to human health such as life-threatening cancer and heart problems.
Similarly, an AQI score of 201 to 300 is considered an emergency with health warnings. In this situation, children, elderly and sick patients are advised to restrict indoor activities and others outside the home.
