POBNEWS24, Dhaka Jan 2, 2023 : The global economy could be ‘tighter’ in 2023 than in previous years, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned. IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva said this year could be a ‘ difficult year’ for most of the global economy .
The entire world has gone through turmoil in 2022 due to the Ukraine war, the coronavirus pandemic. Many people are hoping that the new year will be beautiful and promising.
He said on CBS News’ Face the Nation that 2023 is going to be ‘tougher’ than last year as the economy in the US, European Union and China slows down.
The top official of the IMF also said that millions of people may face a recession-like situation even in those countries which are not in crisis.
IMF Managing Director Georgieva has warned that China, the world’s second largest economy, will also have a difficult start in 2023. The impact on global growth in China and the region will be negative.
