POBNEWS24, In’t Desk, June 20, 2023 : IPS officer Ravi Sinha has been appointed as the new chief of India’s intelligence agency ‘Research and Analysis Wing’ or RAW. Sinha is being appointed in his place as the current chief Samant Goel’s term expires. Goyal’s term ends on June 30. Ravi Sinha will take over from him. Currently Ravi Sinha is second in command of Indian spy agency. Hindustan Times reported this.
According to the news, Ravi Sinha is an IPS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre of 1988 batch. After assuming responsibility, he will face two big problems. One is Khalistani separatism in Punjab and the other is the ongoing violence in Manipur. Ravi Sinha is currently serving as the second in command of the Research and Analysis Wing. He has been responsible for seven years as the head of the operations division of the organization.
He has a good understanding of Jammu and Kashmir and North-East of India. He will hold the post of chief for two years.
Ravi Sinha is known as ‘Tech Savvy’ among the agents. Because he has introduced many new technologies in the organization. He also increased the use of technology in the field of espionage and data collection. According to his colleagues, Ravi Sinha has always preferred to work behind the scenes. Outgoing chief Samant Goel was a 1984 batch Punjab cadre IPS officer. Samant Goel joined the Research and Analysis Wing in 2001. In 2019, he assumed responsibility as the head of the organization. For the past four years, he served as the chief of India’s intelligence agency.
