POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Aug 2, 2023 : The leaders of the three left-wing parties of the 14-party coalition, led by the ruling Awami League, have expressed their desire to have China on their side to protect the continuity of Sheikh Hasina’s government while visiting China.

In response, Chinese authorities said they have full support for the continuation of development and stability. They don’t like western interference in internal affairs like elections in Bangladesh.

This information was known after talking with the leaders of the delegation after returning home after visiting China.

Top leaders of Bangladesh Workers Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and Samyavadi Dal (ML) visited Kunming, China on July 24 to 30 at the invitation of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party.

Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, JSD President Hasanul Haque Inu and Samyavadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua led the trip on behalf of their respective parties.

Apart from them, there were nine others who included the delegation.

Sources of the delegation said that the Chinese authorities checked the health of each member of the delegation during the visit. Then they were taken to visit several modern factories there.

Various sightseeing places are shown around. Representatives of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party came to Kunming from Beijing for a meeting with the delegation of Bangladesh. Each party of Bangladesh had a separate meeting with them.

After that, representatives of all parties and leaders of the Chinese Communist Party attended dinner together and had open discussions. In addition, a meeting was held in Kunming with the vice governor of Yunnan Province and the leaders of the Communist Party of the surrounding provinces.

Several members of the delegation said that the top leaders of Workers Party, JSD and Communist Party have visited China together before. Before this, they visited China in 2017 before the 11th National Assembly elections. Communist Party’s Dilip Barua has also visited China alone.

When asked about the discussion of the visit, Dilip Barua said, “Our main point was that the government needs continuity.” Chinese leaders also think that if the government in Bangladesh continues, the economic development of Bangladesh will increase to a greater extent. Therefore, China has said that it will stand by Bangladesh’s sustainable progress and stability.

Several leaders of the delegation said that they have convinced the Chinese that Bangladesh needs a leader like Sheikh Hasina for sustainable development. No one has been created to replace her in Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina is also popular. China also does not disagree on this, the leaders of the three parties have received these ideas.

Workers Party General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha said, “We strongly oppose the interference of the West in the elections. The Chinese have also said that they do not like Western interference”.

According to relevant sources, at a dinner hosted by the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, one of the left leaders expressed the opinion that the US is on a mission to oust Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. To prevent China’s influence in the region, they want to install a weak leadership like themselves in Bangladesh. In this regard, the Chinese leaders said that they will not interfere in the internal affairs of Bangladesh. However, their support to Sheikh Hasina’s government will continue.

JSD President Hasanul Haque Inu said that the issue of Western interference in the upcoming elections and the internal affairs of Bangladesh has come up for discussion. He also said that the activities of the West including the United States in Bangladesh are not at all for democracy or fair elections. Their military interests are behind it. The Chinese also said they had experience of something different behind such activities in the West. They do not like Western interference in the internal affairs of Bangladesh.
