POBNEWS24.Dhaka, Sept 27, 2023 : President of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Farooq Hasan believes that the US visa policy will not have any effect on exports. He said, ‘Visa policy is not on the institution, but on the individual. I don’t know if any of our traders will fall into this. If it falls, it will not affect the export.
He said these things today in a press conference at the organization’s office in Diabari, Uttara of the capital. Entrepreneurs including BGMEA senior vice president SM Mannan Kochi, vice president Shahidullah Azim, former president Abdus Salam Murshidi, former president Safiul Islam Mohiuddin were present at the press conference.
The BGMEA president said, ‘The visa policy of the United States can affect anyone. Again I got visa every five years for last 30 years. Even after I went to the United States, he told that your visa was cancelled. In this way, someone’s visa is canceled. Businessmen can continue their business even if their visa is cancelled. We could not go to any country during Corona. However, our business did not stop. In that case, it can be said that even if the visa is cancelled, the business can be continued as an alternative.
Farooq Hasan said, “The report published in the media that 10 companies have smuggled 300 crore taka is false and baseless. If someone is accused, properly investigate, prove, then bring them to justice. The industry as a whole has been damaged by your media coverage of this matter.’
