POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 13, 2023 : Bangladesh Railway has released the train fares on the newly inaugurated Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar route. The finalized list shows that the minimum fare of Tk 125 is to go from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar in the 2nd (ordinary) class. On the other hand, AC berth (sleeping travel) class fare has been fixed as maximum Tk 1725.
Trains will start running on this route on December 1.
Additional Director General (ADG) of Railways Sardar Shahdat Ali confirmed this to Jago News. However, he also said that it has not been decided which train will run on this route.
Last Saturday (November 11), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the scenic railway station of Cox’s Bazar and Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway line.
According to the published list, it is possible to travel from Cox’s Bazar to Chittagong or vice versa for a minimum of 55 taka. Traveling in AC berth class on this route will cost 696 taka.
Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar or Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka travel (one way) by 2nd class mail or express train will cost Tk 170. Fares are fixed at Tk 210 in commuter train, Tk 250 in cheap class, Tk 420 in luxury class, Tk 500 in luxury chair. Apart from this, the fare for 1st class chair or seat will be Tk 670, 1st berth Tk 1000, Snigdha class (AC chair) Tk 961, AC seat (cabin seat) Tk 1150 and AC berth will take a maximum of Tk 1725.
All fares are inclusive of applicable VAT.
