POBNEWS24,Dhaka Jan 3, 2022: A writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking judicial inquiry into the alleged rape of a woman in Cox’s Bazar.
After the writ in the relevant branch, Justice M. Inayetur Rahim and Md. It was filed in the High Court bench comprising Mostafizur Rahman on Monday.

Abdullah Al Harun Bhuiyan told Prothom Alo that the incident was being investigated by the police. However, there are discrepancies in the statements made by various organizations about the incident. So the writ is made rather than a judicial inquiry to uncover the real cause. There may be a hearing on the writ this week.
The writ petition seeks a ruling on why the case should not be directed to be submitted to the court within 30 days after a judicial inquiry by the Cox’s Bazar Sessions Judge or Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The writ petition filed by the petitioner on December 26 along with the Home Secretary has been added to the writ petition. The petitioner requested to take action against the culprits within 24 hours subject to proper investigation into the incident of gang rape that took place in Cox’s Bazar on December 22.
According to the writ petition, if the rule is pending, instructions have been sought to take action on the basis of the application (December 26) and submit a report.
In the writ petition, seven persons including Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Secretary of Civil Aviation and Tourism and Tourist Police have been named as defendants.
According to the statement of case filed in the incident, the woman from Dhaka, who was on a trip to Laboni Point on the beach with her husband and eight-month-old child, landed on the afternoon of December 22. A man named Ashiq collided with her husband while walking down the shelf towards the water. As a result, the woman was picked up in the evening, first at a tea shop in a hut and later at the Zia Guest Inn Hotel in Kalatali, where a group led by Ashik raped her.
The next day, on the night of December 23, the woman’s husband became a plaintiff at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station. Ashik (28), Md. Babu (25), Israfil Huda (26), Riaz Uddin (30), filed a case against seven persons including three unidentified persons under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act.
