POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 24, 2025 : Calling for celebrating the great independence and national day on March 26 with due dignity, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a statement for the countrymen on March 24. In the statement, he said, on March 26, 1971, the country’s best children, the brave freedom fighters and freedom-loving people, had resisted the then ruling class to establish democracy, rule of law, justice, freedom of expression and human rights in the country. The main aspiration of the great liberation war was equality, human dignity and social justice. People from all walks of life joined the liberation war with the aim of establishing a country free from hunger, poverty, unemployment and misrule. The country gained independence at the cost of millions of blood. If we calculate the expectations and achievements of the people of the country in the 54 years of independence today, it is seen that many expectations have not been fulfilled yet.
He further said that the country has regained its independence for the second time through the mass movement of the students and the public last July. After being freed from the hands of the oppressor who had been oppressing it like a rock for 15 and a half years, the people of the country are able to breathe free air. The people of the country have regained the right to speak and can move around in peace and comfort. The friends of the fallen government and some vested interests of the country are engaged in a deep conspiracy to thwart this mass movement of the students and the public with the help of foreign hegemonic forces. They are trying to destabilize the country again and have started a malicious attempt to bring back the fallen dictatorship. In such a situation, the countrymen must unite and remain vigilant and alert. We must continue our movement and struggle until a new Bangladesh of peace and comfort is formed.
He said, “On the great Independence Day, we remember with deep respect and honor the brave freedom fighters and all those people whose sacrifice and blood earned Bangladesh the status of an independent and sovereign state on the world map. We also remember all the martyrs of the mass movement of last July and those who were injured and disabled. We express our deepest condolences to the family members of all the martyrs and the injured and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
I extend my heartfelt greetings to the countrymen on the great Independence Day. I call on all branches of our beloved organization Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to celebrate the great Independence Day with due dignity. At the same time, I pray to Almighty Allah for the well-being of the countrymen at this critical moment of the country. May Allah protect the independence and sovereignty of our beloved country.”
